The History of the Hotel España

The former Fonda de España was built in Calle Sant Pau 9 -11 circa 1860.
In 1904 it was awarded a prize by Barcelona City Council for the decoration, the work of the prestigious modernist architect Domènech i Montaner with the help of the sculptor Eusebi Arnau and the painter Ramón Casas.
It was later name Grand Hotel d'Espagne, following the fashion of the time, and has now been fully modernised and equipped with all the latest comforts.
