The Hotel’s Location

The Hotel España is located in the heart of Barcelona’s tourist area, next to the Gran Teatro del Liceo and close to the Gothic Quarter.

A five-minute walk away is Plaza de Cataluña , the heart of Barcelona and the public transport hub for urban and suburban travel in the city, as well as the airport bus and sightseeing bus tours. Off the main square are la Rambla de Cataluña and el Paseo de Gracia, two of the city’s main thoroughfares, along which you can find top design, jewellery and fashion outlets, as well as restaurants, hotels and popular street cafés. In these two main streets you can also admire the most outstanding Modernist buildings in Barcelona.

A few metres away from the hotel is Las Ramblas, which takes you from Plaza Cataluña to the sea. The walk down this colourful avenue is unforgettable as you pass by flower stalls, newsstands, street artists and all sorts of animated activity that starts early in the morning and continues until late at night, before you finally arrive at the old port. In this avenue, you can admire the Palacio de la Virreina, which was built in the eighteenth century and is one of the finest examples of Baroque civil architecture in Catalonia. The palace holds occasional exhibitions and houses a permanent exhibition of the Giants of Barcelona.

La Boquería market, which visitors should not miss, is also located on Las Ramblas.
